Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect
Information you give us.

This includes information you provide when you create a membership or community profile, fill out a form, register for an event, contact us, or subscribe to our email list — such as your name, email address, business details, and anything you choose to share in your profile or posts.

Membership payment information.

We use Stripe to process membership payments. Your payment card details are collected and processed by Stripe under its own privacy policy; we do not store your full card number on our systems. We may retain limited billing records (such as the last four digits, billing dates, and amounts) for accounting.

Information collected automatically.

When you use the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information through cookies and similar technologies — such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and how you interact with the Site.

Note about Vendor purchases.

When you buy from a Vendor, that purchase happens on the Vendor’s own platform. We do not collect or process the payment or order information for those purchases — that information is handled by the Vendor and its payment provider under their own privacy policies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Site, the marketplace, and the community;
  • Create and manage your membership and community profile;
  • Process membership payments and keep billing records;
  • Communicate with you about your account, events, updates, and — with your consent where required — marketing;
  • Feature and promote members in accordance with their membership tier (such as “Meet Our Members” and featured placements);
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the Site and prevent fraud;
  • Comply with our legal obligations.
3. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, understand how the Site is used, and improve your experience. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling some cookies may affect how the Site works.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run Built By Us:

  • Service providers. We share information with the vendors and platforms that help us operate — such as our website hosting, community platform, payment processor (Stripe), email service, and analytics providers — who may only use it to perform services for us.
  • Within the community. Information in your public member profile and anything you post in community forums or listings is visible to other members and, where applicable, to the public.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a legal request.
  • Business transfers. If Built By Us is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Third-Party Services

Our Site relies on trusted third-party services, including Stripe (payments), our community and hosting platform, our email marketing platform, and analytics tools. These providers process information under their own privacy policies. Our Site and Vendor listings may also link to third-party websites, which we do not control and which have their own privacy practices.

6. Data Retention

We keep your information for as long as your membership is active and as long as needed to provide the Site, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information — such as the right to access, correct, or delete it, or to opt out of certain uses. We serve members in the United States and Canada, and we honor the rights available to you under applicable laws, including U.S. state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act) and Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA).

  • California residents may request access to or deletion of their personal information and may opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of it (we do not sell personal information).
  • Canadian residents may access and correct their personal information and withdraw consent, subject to legal and contractual limits.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@builtbyus.co. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the timeframes required by law.

8. Marketing Communications

If you receive marketing emails from us, you can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us. We may still send you non-marketing messages about your account or membership.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, and we rely on reputable providers (such as Stripe for payments) that maintain their own security standards. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.

12. Contact Us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your information, contact us at [privacy/contact email] or through the Contact page on our Site. Built By Us is operated by Built By Us LLC.
